Medical Emergency

A measles case on the UCI main campus was confirmed by the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) on Friday, May 3, 2019. If you are concerned about your immunity status and/or if you are experiencing measles-related symptoms, please call the Student Health Center (SHC) as soon as possible at 949-824-5301. You will be provided instructions and/or guidance by nursing staff.

If the SHC is closed and you have measles related symptoms, please go to the nearest hospital emergency department or urgent care facility. A list of facilities in close proximity to UCI can be found below.

Students who have health insurance other than UC SHIP are encouraged to contact their primary care provider as soon as possible to confirm immunity if they are unsure and/or to obtain testing or treatment if necessary. However, "NON-SHIP" students are certainly eligible to receive services at SHC and are invited to do so if their primary care provider is out-of-area.

For questions and/or additional guidance when SHC is closed, students may also contact the Anthem Nurse Advice Line at (877) 351-3457. The Anthem Nurse Advice Line is available 24/7.

If you suddenly become ill or have a medical emergency, please call 911, or call the UCI Police at (949) 824-5222, or go to the nearest emergency room. Be sure to contact Student Health Center at (949) 824-5304 to schedule an appointment for follow-up care.

After Hours Care

If the Student Health Center is closed, there are other health care resources available to you including:

After-Hours Nurse Advice Line (Anthem)

If you have health concerns and need your questions answered right away, or when SHC is closed or while you are off-campus, call the After Hours Nurse Advice Line. A nurse is available 24/7 to answer your questions.
