Online Health Clearance Requests: If you require a health clearance for Bio 199, PH 194/196, UCI Childcare, UCI Volunteer or for another reason (excluding EAP or Study Abroad at this time), you may submit a request online through the Student Health Patient Portal. Click on "Messages" on the left navigation bar and follow the prompts to compose and send a secure message to SHC for "Health Clearance Request". You will receive a response from the Health Clearance Nurse within 3-5 business days.

There is a $15.00 fee for the Health Clearance Nurse to review medical records and/or other documentation and complete forms that are necessary to complete the clearance process. If a health clearance is required from more than one campus department/organization, then a fee will be charged per each entity.

Note: Online health clearance requests are not currently available for EAP or Study Abroad. If you are seeking a clearance for EAP or Study Abroad, please call 949-824-5304 to schedule an appointment. Do not submit an online clearance request for EAP or Study Abroad as this will cause a delay in obtaining clearance.

Visit SHC’s TB Screening and Immunization Requirements page for detailed information and instructions regarding UC’s Immunizations and TB Screening policy.

Check the CDC website for Vaccine Information Statements for more information: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/current-vis.html

We offer tests that are used to detect TB bacteria in the body. TB screening is a requirement for all incoming students. TB Testing is required or proof of compliance if the student shows high risk factors for TB.

  • TB skin test (TST) or commonly referred to as PPD. This requires 2 visits-one for the administration of the skin test and another one after 48-72 hours to read the test result.
  • TB blood tests (T spot & Quantiferon Gold). This requires one visit for the blood draw.

Visit SHC’s Admission Health Requirements page for detailed information and instructions regarding UC’s Immunizations and TB Screening policy.

If you are planning to travel outside the United States, either on your own or as part of a University-sponsored program (e.g., EAP), schedule an appointment with the Nurse Clinic to be informed of the required and recommended immunizations and prevention tips to avoid illnesses experienced by travelers.

Depending upon your country of destination, the immunizations that are necessary differ considerably. For specific country requirements and recommendations, please visit the CDC website: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list/
